Bear alert

October 24, 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Today at 10:35 Parkview was notified that an injured black bear was on school property. We placed our school on a Shelter in Place alert in response to this sighting. Shelter in Place means that it was “business as usual” in our classrooms, while we kept all students, staff and visitors safe within our school building. We were in contact with both the Conservation Office and the RCMP. The RCMP notified us at 11:55 that it was safe for our students to go outside. While the bear is no longer on school property, it may still be in the neighbourhood. The Conservation Officer and RCMP are actively searching for the bear and will address any safety concerns, as needed. To ensure your child’s safety, take precautions and please accompany your child to and from school if walking.
